Personalize Google for your Homepage

I came across a really neat tool a couple of weeks ago – personalizing Google and setting it as your home page.  As well as having a lot of cool features, it also saves a lot of time. Basically you pull all the websites that you regularly visit onto one page, so you don’t have to spend time going off here, there and everywhere – it’s all in one place.

Check it out at http://www.google.com/ig

Google is set as my homepage and I’ve got access to:

  • the current date/time
  • weather for my local area
  • Google reader so that I can easily access all of my RSS feeds
  • driving directions
  • a Dictionary
  • and the best bit of all is access to my client’s online calendar. Just by visiting my homepage I can see exactly what’s scheduled for my client that day without having to login in to our shared calendar. We use Business IT Online, by the way.

There is a lot, lot more I could add to it – I just haven’t had the time to check it all out properly! But do go over and see for yourself – there’s a ton of fun stuff there.
